I love ballroom dancing! Reminds me of those Fred & Ginger movies & gliding effortlessly as they jumped over furniture, walls, ceilings…Ok, I’m allowed a bit of unreality!
I started thinking about what my coaching clients as well as me could learn from this show…
Here’s what I came up with-feel free to add your own…
1. Willingness to step out of their comfort zone-All of the celebrities were open to failing-or succeeding & reaching their goals…Jerry Springer learned steps to dance at his daughter’s wedding. Joey dedicated a dance to his veteran of WWII, grandfather, Mario to his mama, and Emmet, for his family, to name a few…
2. Determination & perseverance-Learning dances with tricky steps & choreography is hard! Took me 4-6 weeks to learn the rhumba & I still wouldn’t perform it in front of a live audience! Week in, week out, they stuck to it!
3. Passion wins!- It was clear when all the dancers loved what they were doing & had fun. They enjoyed it, so we wanted to come along & share in the fun! Jerry entertained, Mario smoldered, Joey was grinning with joy,..Emmet won the non-football fans with his charming smile & fancy footwork-We could tell he was having a great time!
4. Support matters! All the celebrities felt the collective energy of the group! It was positive & the celebrities wanted to do a good job for their partners/choreographers. One of the most frequent comments of my Get Hired Now! Teleseries is the support & accountability! "Keeps me on track so I can get my ideal job!"
5. Being held responsible-accountable-The celebrities had a week to learn their next dance. They’d made the commitment and had to show up! And, if they didn’t, their partners would hold them accountable for their actions. I run coaching groups-hardly ever have someone not come. My being there as well as their coaching group buddies makes it much more likely they’ll join in.
I’ve shared 5, now, won’t you help me out?
Please share yours!
